Almudaina Palace
Situated next to Mallorca’s cathedral, the Almudaina Palace is currently the summer residence of the Spanish Royal Family and the oldest of the royal residences still in use, dating from the early 14th century. This alcázar was built on the walls of the old Muslim citadel and therefore retains its original structure, although this area of the city had already been used by the Romans as a castrum.
Stroll through its various rooms full of Gothic arches, pass through the King’s Palace and the Queen’s Palace, and be dazzled by the royal staircase and the Chapel of Santa Ana. Likewise, the palace still preserves furniture and tapestries from the period, as well as majestic paintings and decorative works that represent the history of the island.
