Alfabia Gardens
The gardens are located in the municipality of Buñola and are a perfect combination of history and nature. This place is a “son”, meaning, a kind of typical Mallorca garden of Hispanic-Arab heritage from old farms used to grow citrus and fruit trees.
The tour begins by climbing some large stairs adorned with palm trees and then passing through a pair of lion statues that lead to a cistern covered by a vault. Here we come to the most emblematic feature of Alfabia: a pergola with 72 columns and 24 stone hydras with interspersed fountains, whose water falls into an orange orchard.
Leaving this behind, you reach another landscaped area which features large palm trees and a small pond. This area has an English influence and is known as the “Jardinet de la Reina” (The Queen’s Little Garden), as it was remodelled following the visit of Queen Elizabeth II. Finally, there is a café close to this part where you can stop for a refreshment while admiring the wonderful views of the garden.
