Palma Aquarium
A visit to Palma Aquarium is the perfect plan for those days when the sun is just too hot, or when you simply want to do something different. The aquarium, opened in 2007, boasts 55 tanks with approximately 8,000 examples of 700 different species from the Mediterranean sea and the Indian, Atlantic and Pacific oceans.
The aquarium is divided into a Mediterranean area, where you can observe animals such as starfish and rays, and the tropical area, which houses the largest collection of live coral in Spain and Europe, as well as species such as the clown fish and the puffer fish. Outside the aquarium, you can enjoy the Aquarium Gardens, a 12,000 metre squared space with a children’s play area and a broad selection of Mediterranean flora, among other things.
Finally, you mustn’t miss the Big Blue. At almost 9 metres deep, this tank is considered one of the deepest in Europa and it houses 11 types of shark for visitors to admire.
